CUT n FUSE

「ガラスボトルをカットし、溶着したフラワーベース」

しばらく使われていなかった電気窯を利用して何か作ろうと思い、
熱によって変形したり、溶着も可能なガラスを素材として選んだ。
形状の違う2つのボトルをカットし、重ねて電気釜へ入れると、熱で溶着され一体となる。
溶着時の温度で全体が少し変形し、カット面のエッジが丸みを帯びて歪んだ形になった。
これらの歪みが小さな植物の存在感を引き立てる花器となった。

"Flower vase made by cutting and fusing glass bottles"

I came up with the idea to make something using an electric kiln at our factory which we had not used for a while.
I selected glass as a material to work on since it is fusible and deformable by heating.

Two bottles of different shapes are cut, stacked, and placed in an electric kiln, where heat fuses them to form a single piece.
The heat fuses the pieces and deforms them slightly causing the cut edges to become round and distorted.
This slight deformation creates a vase that highlights the presence of the small plants.
